Speed & Collision Awareness

Guidelines for Members and Guests in Learning, Training, and Competitive Environments

Active Programming for All Skill Levels

At Osler Bluff Ski Club, members actively participate in a variety of programs designed to develop skiing and snowboarding skills. Whether you are learning, training, or competing, it’s essential for all members and guests to recognize the distinct environments on the hill and adjust speed accordingly to prevent collisions and ensure safety.

Learning Environment: The Beehive and Marshall

The Beehive and Marshall are the main  learning areas at Osler Bluff Ski Club, where skiers and snowboarders of all ages can develop their skills. these zones offer suitable terrain for practicing turns, stops and balance. During the season, expect learning stations and progression features. The Beehive is served by both a conveyor lift and a platter lift.

Please reduce your speed in the Beehive learning area and on Marshall Trail. Since there are many young children and beginner skiers or riders around, we ask everyone to be especially careful and go slowly to help avoid collisions.

Training Environments

Osler Bluff is renowned for high-quality instruction, programs and coaching. Training zones are maintained in collaboration with Patrol and Operations and may include slope side lessons, snow snakes, or instructors working with their students on specific features. Training areas are often marked with caution signage.
  • Stay alert around training zones—participants are focused on improving their skills and may not be aware of your movements.
  • Reduce your speed in these areas to avoid accidents and collisions.
  • Do not enter designated training areas without permission. Ask an instructor or coach If access is needed.

Competitive Environments

Osler Bluff hosts premier alpine competitions on a FIS-homologated downhill run with events range from U6 to FIS levels in multiple winter disciplines. All races take place on closed runs to ensure athlete safety.
  • Be aware: Competition courses involve high speeds and blind spots. A clear track is essential.
  • Respect signage: Do not enter closed race runs.
  • Athletes may train and compete at speed in designated areas but must slow down elsewhere to maintain safety.
