Courts

Tennis

With royal roots dating back to the 12th century—when it was first played as a handball game among European aristocracy—tennis has evolved into a timeless sport with global appeal. Today’s modern game is loved for its blend of strategy, athleticism, and social connection, enjoyed equally by recreational players and seasoned competitors.

Members at Osler Bluff can take advantage of two recently resurfaced tennis courts, offering an exceptional playing experience in a beautiful mountain setting. Whether you’re looking to sharpen your skills, enjoy a friendly rally, or compete in a spirited match, tennis at Osler is the perfect way to stay active, challenge yourself, and connect with fellow members.

From its storied past to its vibrant present, tennis remains a cornerstone of summer recreation—and a standout experience at the Club.

All court reservations must be made by the member through the Court Booking System. Members are responsible for booking and managing court time for themselves and any accompanying guests.
  • Members may reserve tennis courts up to 14 days in advance
  • All other program participants may reserve courts up to 10 days in advance

Every tennis player has areas of their game they’d like to improve. Whether you’re an advanced player aiming to take your skills to the next level, an intermediate player refining technique and consistency, or completely new to tennis and picking up a racquet for the first time, lessons provide personalized instruction tailored to your goals.

Our experienced coaches design each session around your individual needs, focusing on technique, strategy, and confidence on the court.

We offer private and semi‑private lessons, which can be scheduled at a time that works best for you. Lessons begin in May and run through Thanksgiving weekend, offering plenty of opportunities to play, learn, and progress throughout the season.

Lessons can be booked through the Summer Activities page on our website.

Pickleball

Pickleball is a fun, family‑friendly game that blends elements of tennis, table tennis, and badminton. Originally invented in 1965 as a backyard game for children, it has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years and is now recognized as the fastest‑growing sport in North America.

Easy to learn and highly social, pickleball appeals to players of all ages and skill levels—whether you’re picking up a paddle for the first time or enjoying a competitive rally.
The Club features four pickleball courts, open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., subject to natural light and scheduled programming.

For added convenience, pickleball paddles and balls are available for rent and can be signed out through the Summer Club Attendant at the pool area.

Fall in love with the Club’s fastest growing sport!

We’re here to help you learn the ins and outs of the game of pickleball. Whether you want to improve your skills or looking to compete at a higher level or are totally new to the sport, our pros will help you advance your pickleball game.

Pick your instructor; Cathy Bawden or Peter Hibbard, and your lesson type (depending on number of people) and elevate your game to new heights.

PRIVATE LESSON: 1 PLAYER - One-on-one instruction with either Cathy or Peter is a great way to improve a particular skill or mechanic you are striving for.

SEMIPRIVATE LESSON: 2 PLAYERS - Semiprivate lessons allow two people to work on specific skills and mechanics with one of our instructors. This a great lesson to take with a friend or partner.

GROUP LESSON: 3 PLAYERS - 3 players work with an instructor in a very interactive lesson. Skills and mechanics can be worked on with the instructor as one of the players.

GROUP LESSON: 4 PLAYERS - This lesson type is a great chance for a small group to work on improving their playing style and mechanics.

Volleyball

Volleyball was invented in 1895 as an indoor sport designed for businessmen seeking a less physically demanding alternative to basketball. What began as a gentleman’s pastime quickly evolved into a fast‑paced, team‑oriented game enjoyed around the world. In 1915, the first recorded game of beach volleyball was played on Waikiki Beach in Hawaii, giving rise to the outdoor version that has since become synonymous with summer fun.

Today, volleyball continues to bring people together through teamwork, friendly competition, and shared energy. At Osler Bluff, members and guests can enjoy the game on one of our two volleyball courts, perfect for casual play, organized matches, or spontaneous games with friends and family.

Whether you’re bumping, setting, or spiking for the win—or simply enjoying a relaxed game in the fresh mountain air—volleyball at Osler is a classic summer experience that blends history, athleticism, and community.
If interested in booking the court privately, please reach out to [email protected] and a member of our team will be happy to assist.
