POSITION:            Cabin and Property Associate
REPORTING TO:  Facilities and Development Manager
STATUS:                Full Time Permanent
This is a unique opportunity for someone who loves the outdoors and who is interested in a full-time permanent position at one of Canada’s premier private ski clubs. Reporting to the Facilities and Development Manager, this hands-on role will be responsible for the Club’s Cabin Community operations and infrastructure. Osler Bluff Ski Club has 250 plus acres of land excluding the ski resort with 200 ski cabins in four unique cabin communities. These ski cabins are individually owned by Osler members, but the Club is the landowner and facilitates community maintenance and operations. Strong customer service and problem-solving skills will enable this individual to build strong relationships with cabin owners and a solid mechanical aptitude will help facilitate successful operations of the community infrastructure.
This role is 40 hours per week with flexibility to accommodate the needs of the Club’s four cabin communities. During the ski season (December to mid-April), the schedule will be Wednesday to Sunday including working all weekends and holidays. In the summer season the schedule will primarily be 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, five days a week. Days to be determined.

  • Provide excellent customer service to all cabin owners and contractors
  • Work closely and build relationships with Club members and coworkers
  • Coordinate scheduling of service providers and maintenance (clean out of the three communal Waste and Recycling transfer stations
  • Works closely with the Facilities and Development Manager to ensure any cabin construction conforms to the regulations set out in the Club’s Licence to Construct and Building Regulations
  • Will complete all grass cutting in the communal areas of the communities as well as around the water system pump houses and sewage buildings
  • Maintain safe access around the community infrastructure and buildings by shoveling snow from doorways, walkways, steps and platforms
  • Performs internal and external repair and maintenance work to maintain community facilities and equipment in a safe and presentable condition
  • Support the Club and Club communities with initiatives as required
  • Promote safe and reliable operations of community small water systems by completing daily activities to observe, monitor and record operational parameters
  • Coordinate and support seasonal drinking water reservoir cleaning program in compliance with Ontario Drinking Water Regulations
  • Works closely with Facilities and Development Manager to ensure communal sewage systems are maintained and operated within accepted limits
  • Coordinates maintenance and repair activities with contractors for all community roads
  • Responsible for record keeping and budget support for all communities
  • Responsible for written and phone communications with members and contractors
  • Attend Cabin and Property Community meetings as required
  • Experience in drinking water and sewage infrastructure systems
  • 2-5 years minimum of experience with camp-grounds, construction or hands on mechanical systems or related experience
  • Demonstrated, exceptional customer service skills
  • Must have a valid Class G drivers’ licence in good standing
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment e.g. farm tractors
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Experience with confined spaces would be an asset
  • Must be physically fit and be able to perform in physically demanding activities e.g. snow shoveling, hand tools
  • Must be comfortable working from heights e.g. ladders on roofs
  • Flexible, adaptable and able to execute a range of job duties and changing priorities

  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills

  • Possess professional maturity and impeccable integrity

  • Must be able to work in all types of weather e.g. cold, heat, rain, wind
  • You’re able to work weekends and holidays as required
  • Comfortable being on-call as required to assist with community emergencies
  • Experience using Microsoft Office
