Lifts/Snowmaking/Grooming

Osler has always been the leader when it comes to moving skiers up the mountain. In 1950-51 we were the first ski area in Ontario to install a 4 car (later to become 4 sleigh) surface lift. In 1959 we installed the first T Bar in Ontario and in 1969 the first triple chair in Ontario. Nineteen ninety-eight saw the construction of Osler’s high speed detachable quad chair, the first at any private club in Canada. We were also one of the first ski clubs to install snowmaking, which now services over 90% of the our terrain. State of the art groomers work all night long to provide an exhilarating carpet. Snowboarding is an integral part of Osler culture, and our terrain park boasts a full-size competition half-pipe over 450 feet long, in addition to terrain park facilities for snowboarders and skiers alike.

Ski & Snowboard School

The high standard of skiing and snowboarding evident at Osler is a testament to the dedication, skill and enthusiasm of our Ski & Snowboard School. It is renowned as one of the finest in Canada. Whether you’re a freestyle rider or carver you can excel under the guidance of our competent staff. From preschoolers to seniors, beginner to expert, there is a program for everyone. Most families kick-start the season with a ski, snowboard or race camp during the Christmas holidays, and March break camps precede our spring skiing that usually runs into April.

Racing

Racing is an integral part of Osler life with an extremely qualified and competent coaching staff, some of whom have international experience. Osler is well known for having the best downhill course in Ontario and the Club has been a fixture on the Alpine Ontario race schedule for over forty years.

Osler junior racers have progressed to Canada’s National Team, including 6-time World Cup champion Laurie Graham, and more recently downhiller Luke Sauder. In addition, five former National Team members have joined the Osler family, including Nancy Greene Raine and Ken Read. Four members have also represented Canada on our National Telemark Ski Team. From entry level five year olds to interclub team racing to individual provincial racing or our own adult house league (which is as popular for its camaraderie as for its competitiveness), there is racing for everyone from the young to the young at heart.

Our Facilities

Three lodges provide members with service and comfort. The quaint and rustic log structure known as the Upper Chalet is located at the top of the Clubhouse Chair. It provides food services and restrooms, with heat from a large fireplace and three wood stoves that enhance the ambiance. The Orchard Lodge has food services, restrooms, ski and boot lockers and serves as the race headquarters for visiting athletes. The beautiful post and beam construction of our Main Clubhouse offers a panoramic view of the slopes from the two dining areas and the Founders Lounge on the upper level. The lower level has ski and boot storage lockers and a lounge area for the kids to watch movies while mom and dad are enjoying an après ski social. There is a separate playroom/ nursery for the smaller ones. Adjacent to the Main Clubhouse is the Administration Building, which contains the Ski & Snowboard School, Race Office and a pro-shop operated by Squire John’s of Collingwood, providing equipment, repairs and rentals.

Summer Club

Those wishing to continue their social and recreational interests with friends throughout the summer can join the Osler Bath and Racquet Club. These facilities, on Club property southeast of the Main Clubhouse, include a swimming pool, tennis courts and change house. An active summer calendar is planned for all ages including tournaments, junior camps, regattas and barbecues. Many members with chalets use them year-round, taking advantage of the many attractions and activities the Collingwood area has to offer. To list a few: Golf – Monterra, Cranberry, Blue Mountain, Mad River and Duntroon. Biking and Hiking – the Bruce Trail and Georgian Trail plus many more. Water Sports – boating, swimming, wind surfing and 20 minutes to Wasaga Beach.
